If you live in Michigan, chances are you've seen a good amount of snowfall over the last couple of days. And while some of you don't love snow, it serves a purpose in home ownership. Really!
According to our home inspector partners, and Mike Holmes, snow is a great sign of a well insulated home.
Take a walk around your home after a snowfall and check for any patches of exposed roof shingles. If you have a bare section it could be caused by lacking or limited insulation or ventilation in a part of your attic. It's normal to see snow melting near venting and exhausts. But if there is a "hot spot" exposed from improper ventilation, you might want to consider having a roofing specialist or hiring a home inspector take a look at the functionality of your attic.
